HOLES Novel Study
We have started a Novel Study in English Language Arts with Holes, by Louis Sachar
Students have a copy of the novel, a duotang with the accompanying work and a notebook to complete their work.
For each block of chapters, students must do:
*Word Work(Choose five words from the vocabulary list. For each word, give the sentence containing the word from the novel with a page reference, and then, show the word in another way: a definition, an illustration, a sentence, synonyms & antonyms, rhyming words, or by giving clues)
*Comprehension Work
(Invent two multiple choice questions)
*Reading Response Work
(Answer two comprehension / opinion questions, using lots of detail to explain your answer)
*In-Class Discussions and Activities
(Come to class ready to discuss the chapters and participate in different activities related to the novel)

Multiples in Common
In math, we're working on finding the Least Common Multiple between numbers. (In French, it's the ppcm: plus petit commun multiple)
For this assignment, students had to find all the common multiples between two or three numbers. Each number is represented by a different colour or design.

Students created autobiographical poems in the shape of fingerprints.

RESPECT
As a class, we discussed how we could show RESPECT towards ourselves, towards others and towards property. All the ideas were collected onto this poster and signed by each student. It is now posted in the classroom to show our commitment to RESPECT!

International Dot Day
International Dot Day is a day to celebrate creativity, courage and collaboration!

Rights and Responsibilities
In Social Studies we discussed how each right comes with a responsibility. For example, if you want to be respected, then you have to show respect to others. Each student wrote down their opinion to the following two questions: which right is the most important? and which responsibility is the hardest to accomplish?

Team Challenge
Working together, using a washer and four pieces of string, students had to manoeuvre a yellow ball from the door of the classroom to a cup by Mme's desk. Teamwork and ingenuity made it happen!

We Are All Smart!
