We have started a Novel Study in English Language Arts with Holes, by Louis Sachar
Students have a copy of the novel, a duotang with the accompanying work and a notebook to complete their work.
For each block of chapters, students must do:
*Word Work(Choose five words from the vocabulary list. For each word, give the sentence containing the word from the novel with a page reference, and then, show the word in another way: a definition, an illustration, a sentence, synonyms & antonyms, rhyming words, or by giving clues)
*Comprehension Work
(Invent two multiple choice questions)
*Reading Response Work
(Answer two comprehension / opinion questions, using lots of detail to explain your answer)
*In-Class Discussions and Activities
(Come to class ready to discuss the chapters and participate in different activities related to the novel)
